Today, Nikon is launching the new AF-S NIKKOR 200-400 mm F/4G ED VR II. Its a major upgrade of a very popular lens. It is equipped with VRII technolgy, wich let you use up to 4 stops longer shutter speeds than you normally could hold without camera shake. Nano Crystal coat is also applied, to effectively reduce ghosting and flare. A new A/M mode is also added, to minimize the risk of stopping AF action by touching the focus ring. The weight of the lens is 3360g, and is delivered in a soft and practical bag.

New lenses

As of today, Nikon launches two new lenses, the AF-S Nikkor 16-35MM F/4G ED VR and the AF-S NIKKOR 24MM F/1.4G ED.

They will be a great addition to Nikon's line-up of lenses. The fast-aperture prime wide angle lens has been sought for during a long time, and I can't really wait until it hits the stores at the end of Marsh.

The 16-35VR will break new ground for the nigh time and travelling photographer.
With a new price/performance ratio, I know it will be a welcome addition to our lenses, and I hope that all of you will cherish the wide open performance of this new lens. It will be on sale on the 19th of February.

Bandy in Stockholm

During a hectic week in January, Bill Frakes and Laura Heald teamed up with Nikon Nordic NPS for a tour called Still Moving Pictures. The goal was to shoot a real event, and present a multi media the day after for a invited audience.

The MM here, is from a bandy game at Zinkensdamm in Stockholm.

Backyard Babies

By far the biggest challenge during the Still Moving Pictures tour, was the making of the "Abandon" video for Backyard Babies.
Shot in front of a live audience in Turku and Helsinki, the amount of hours with the eyes closed was very limited. D3s was the camera, and a wast selection of lenses from 14-24 to 600mm where used.Turned out pretty ok!
